Re: [fast5] Re: Suggestions on how to do the fast-5 program more days a week requested

I agree with a longer window when you have gone off the program for awhile or are just starting.

While I am loving the body changes, one of the best parts of this program is learning how to listen to your body and to respond appropriately.  There are days when I am very hungry when I wake up and need some food and I listen to that need.  I have had entire days when I don't feel the need to eat anything at all.  I am trying to strike a balance with the eating.

Stick with it and you will be amazed at the results.

This has been working really well for me: I've totally cut

Another thing that helps, and works in a similar way, is taking
lemon juice or vinegar just before a meal (or when you get
hunger pangs). Acidic foods change the blood sugar curve,
though I haven't heard a good explanation for why they do that.
Hot water with a little lemon juice is calming AND filling.

Re: [fast5] Re: Suggestions on how to do the fast-5 program more days a week requested

Do you think that the hot water with lemon can be used during the fasting time period? I have been doing a water/tea fast (sometimes with some stevia to give my tongue a taste).

I will have to look into glucomannan in a pill format. I believe shirataki noodles have glucomannan too, but that's more of a meal.

Thanks for the posts. I am still struggling with adding more days to the fast-5.

I am also starting to not do as well following the plan during the week too. I know that stress is a big part of it. I also have had trouble sleeping and have "craved" a soda for not just the caffeine but for the sugar. (I am allergic to nutrasweet so can't just grab a diet soda.) Twice this week I had soda in the late morning then figured I had screwed up and ate lunch too.

The scale is starting to go a little upward and I am feeling really defeated.

Has anyone here ever just gone on a water fast for a few days to jump start things again?

Subject: [fast5] Overview of my Wonderful Experience

I thought I would just give an update with how Fast5 has gone for me. I started to read about and become interested in Fast5 back at the end of May. I had started my weight loss journey around February or March 08'. I had gone from about 220 -> 170 when I started this, as I was finding it difficult to not overeat still, and to counteract everything with cardio. I found that fasting until 5pm or so was not difficult at all, that was how I preferred to eat. I have developed a healthy relationship with food, I have spent my whole life (I am 19) over eating and emotionally eating, mostly unhealthy food like my parents. I've really turned my eating habits around and eat pretty much just fresh vegetables and fruit that I have grown and animal protein. I do weight lifting and body weight exercises most days, I don't have real equipment to work with or a gym to go to so I suppose my workouts aren't real intense although I am certainly building strength. I'm down to 150 this morning, my goal weight is 140. I'm 5'11. I haven't weighed 140lbs since I was in elementary school. I thought I could never get control of my life. I practice meditation and prayer, and Fast5 has really brought control to the food aspect of my life which was greatly needed and is greatly appreciated. I have been turning more people onto this way of living but many people are quite stuck on the social standard of 3x meals a day. I've had no weakness or fatigue, and I've really become aware of how much my body needs to eat, and what particularly it needs. I never crave refined sugars or processed foods anymore. Anyone who is questioning whether or not to try this way of life, should most definitely just dive in and give it a shot. If you really hate it, and I am sure you won't, you can always go back to your old way of eating.
