[fast5] Should we stop eating several hours before sleep?

I believe laying down can slow or almost stop gastric emptying.
So supose I end my eating window at 10pm and go to bed at 10:30
my stomach may not finish emptying till much later in the night.
I can see where this could shorten the effective fasting window
after all sumo wrestlers never eat breakfast and always take a 4
hour nap right after eating.

Re: [fast5] IF and pregnancy?

I haven't heard from anyone doing Fast-5 while pregnant, and probably no one wants to give pregnancy advice!

I can say that IF hasn't hurt my endocrine system any, nor any of that bit about "going into starvation mode". Losing too much weight though is a bad thing for women trying to conceive.

Also based on my personal experience, I think people should get tested for gluten intolerance/celiac before getting pregnant. Gluten issues are for sure involved in a lot of miscarriages and problems conceiving, and if I had know that I had this issue before trying I would have had a LOT easier time of things. Also (again based on experience) it's a good idea to have some good vitamins, esp. with the B vitamins, so you are in good status before you conceive. The better your overall health is, the better off you are, esp. if you are older. I was 36 or so when I got married and we decided to have a kid! Had one when I was 40, one when I was 42.

Any wisdom and/or experience is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

[fast5] Re: Yes, this totally works!

Such awesome news!! And that is a really short time frame to be seeing such positive changes...

Since you said, "The first two weeks were the hardest,..." I wondered how others have felt about that.  Does the hunger schedule really seem to get "on board" with the fasting times?  I did SO well for awhile, and that seemed to be happening.  Then I started getting really hungry earlier in the day, gave in on occasion, and now am having a hard time getting back on track.  I have mild hypothyroidism so I'm on the fence about really forcing the fasting time, or avoiding the cortisol stress issue by eating when I get super hungry.  If anyone has thoughts I would certainly be interested.

[fast5] Yes, this totally works!

I just came back from my annual physical. Since my 20's I have NEVER had my cholesterol below 200. Usually it is in the 240-250 range. I was skinny in my 20's and 30's....did not start gaining weight until 40. Even at 119 lbs. My cholesterol was high. My docs have always warned me of my high triglyceride levels as well.
I am starting my 4th week of the fast 5 combined with the eat, stop, eat program.
My cholesterol was below 200 for the first time in my life! Also my triglycerides were well in the normal range. I have also lost 6 lbs.
I am way more ecstatic about the cholesterol! I had given up and thought that it was just genetics!
I am so happy and so committed to this lifestyle!
If anyone is just getting started or curious about this program....it works!
The first 2 weeks were the hardest, now it is a breeze. I do not even think about eating until the appointed time.
Soooooo very happy!

Re: [fast5] Re: Gall bladder complaint

That's a point. I have never done extended fasting ... the IF version works well for me and my lifestyle. And my "movement" is fine I think.

The stones can be there for years and years though before you know about them, so it's hard to say when they happen.

My research only said that fasting causes these problems, not intermediate fasting. Something about lack of "movement" causes a build up of gallstone materials. It's not even enough pain to consult a doctor yet (we're in the middle of moving too otherwise I'd have probably gone in to have it checked out) so gallstones is self-diagnosed. Hmmm.....guess I'll go to Wendy's and order 2 Biggie Fry's ....purely for research purposes of course.
Not looking for a cure or anything...just wondering if anyone else had similar trouble...still sticking to this lifestyle...it SO works for me.
Love, Mo
