RE: [fast5] 30-miles bike riding fasted!

Congrats, Rick!!! That is fantastic!

I was bonking this winter while I weight-trained fasted and finally gave up
fasting.

Now that I am back to it, I am fine.

I think it has to do with making sure we get sure the right nutrients in our
bodies to handle the task at hand.

I think my body has adapted to eating once a day but I'm just out of shape
for bike riding, even though I walk for an hour every day and do bodyweight
exercises. My strength is coming back and I still don't feel hungrier than
I did before I started riding again.

I'll try to ride again Thursday (weather permitting) and see how it goes.

RE: [fast5] Re: After 3 weeks, why do I eat less?

These are great responses; I truly appreciate everyone's input on this
group!!

On the hunger, tho, and 20 minutes...

I find that I'll feel hunger at a certain time during the day. I just
increase my water intake and keep busy. It might come back and bug me a
couple of times, but then it will go away for several hours. Then it comes
back and we go thru the same cycle again.

Fasting can be such a mental game, eh?

I do not believe you should eat in the absence of true physical hunger just
as I do not believe one should bypass hunger. Twenty minutes is long enough
for the brain to send the fullness signal.

RE: [fast5] Supplement/Prescription Question

Wow, congratulations and welcome!

Kirsteen has a great recommendation (eating a small cube of cheese)!

I just gave up Fast5 when I had to go on an every-12-hr meds to be taken
with food.

I never thought to have something little...

But I did make it a 12-hr fast overnight. It was the best I could do.

My question is about the timing of Supplements and Medications. Some of
them must be taken with food and some are twice a day. How do you handle
those?

[fast5] Re: Supplement/Prescription Question

It sounds like I need to sort through my meds and see which ones have to be with food. I like the cheese cube idea - low carb enough to prevent me from getting hungry - I'll try that.

Thanks Kirsteen

If you have to take medication that must be taken with food more than 5 hours apart then you can't really Fast5. However it's still possible to do it more or less. I was in that position for a while. I asked my doctor if I absolutely had to eat with the tablets and it turned out that some of them were ok without food if I didn't feel sick. There was one (I can't remember what it was) that had to be taken with food so, because like you I'd low carbed for years, I took a small cube of cheese with it.

That wasn't strictly Fast5ing but I knew that for me it had to have no carbs or it would make me hungry. The cheese didn't spark of hunger and I was able to stick to it apart from that and i still lost weight. Also when those tablets finished, I didn't have any problems giving up the cheese.

I think that if this is going to become a way of life, we all have to find what within it works for us.

Good Luck
Kirsteen

Woah, very profound. Nicely put! Every so often I come across a grain of truth that sticks in my mind for life... that was one of them. Thank you!

[fast5] Supplement/Prescription Question

I have been on Low Carb for 9 months and have lost 50 pounds. Still have another 30 to go, but have been stalled for the past couple of months. So, was looking for something to help me get back to losing more when I saw a refernce to Fast5 over on one of the Low Carb Forums.

So, I started Fast5 on June 7 - the first day was unpleasant and I was hungry, but the next day was much easier. I drink plenty of water and a diet soda during the day and am finding it fairly easy to wait until my feeding time. I did have a problem with the 5P-10P eating time, it was just too late for me. So I adjusted it to 3p-8p and that is working for me.

I've lost 3 pounds since starting Fast5, but don't know how much of that is water weight. Shouldn't be too much, since I'm still eating Low Carb.

My question is about the timing of Supplements and Medications. Some of them must be taken with food and some are twice a day. How do you handle those?
