[fast5] Re: protein intake

Hi Karen
I am trying to have 35% protein/35% carbs/%30 fat. If, for example, my calories total are 1472 then, I would need have 129grams of protien or 515 calories from a protein source. Yesterday I was only able to get 80g/323 calories from protein. I need a little extra protein since I am an endurance athlete

RE: [fast5] Andy (and Karen updating)

Thanks for the encouragement, Andy.

My latest update is that I have successfully fasted the 19 hrs daily for
close to 2 wks.

The 'successful' part is that I've gone the full 19 hrs (Sunday excepted)
and my weight training has not suffered like it did last fall. Big hoorah!!

The unsuccessful part is that at least 4 of the days, I used my eating
window to eat crap!!! Two times were for the movies and I just love movie
popcorn!

Yesterday, we had a BBQ and I barely fasted 14 hrs and then I ate chips
galore!

Back to plan today.

Karen,

Most of us here feel amazing when we fast and that is the whole point of the
book. We don't feel like that on other diets. As long as your doing it your
a success. Enjoy your day, enjoy the freedom and energy and at night after
all the work is done enjoy your food and relax. Life's too short to worry
about all the unimportant details.

RE: [fast5] Ellen - meals?

Thanks, Ellen.  After I’d asked, I seem to remember you probably had shared your meals earlier.  I just have so little computer time anymore that I did not have time to go back and search.

The book is the Diabetic Solution.

What is so weird is being on the Joel Fuhrman “Eat To Live” yahoo group (his basic plan is eating 2 lbs of veggies, fruit (4-5 servings), minimum 1 cup beans, maximum 1 cup grains, low fat) and hearing a woman say eating that way cured her diabetes; so, IMO, totally opposite of what you’ve done.  Hoy.  To have the time to read all I’d like!!

Here is a link to her first blog that shares a bit about her being an ex-diabetic…

...I'm down 6.5 pounds from last month. WOW. Even with the mess-up of last
1.5 weeks, I haven't seen this number since high school! I didn't get any
clues from my clothes fitting better or anything, but still!

OK, I'm more than encouraged to continue Fast 5!

RE: [fast5] protein intake

I'm curious how much protein you think you need and how much you are
currently getting?

i'm finding it challanging to get all the protein that I need in a day in.
It's about 35% of my diet. With F5 I usually can only get 2 meals in a day.
DOes anyone have any tips on getting extra protein into their diet?

thanks :-)
