Well, 5 gallons from them is $135, plus 40 dollars or so shipping. So let's call it $180, or $36 a gallon. (Expeller pressed).
Half a gallon of olive oil is, say, $15. So $30 a gallon Or $150 for 5 gallons.
So their coconut oil is a little pricier, but not a whole lot, even with shipping. It *is* kind of a pain to decant it into smaller containers, but I'm used to that (I don't like the gallon containers on the counter anyway: I put it into quart-size or half-gallon containers).
I'd be curious what kind of deals you are seeing though. I have gotten coconut oil cheaper, but it just didn't taste as good. Most of the smaller quantities seem to cost quite a bit more though. My family doesn't like the "extra virgin" kind that tastes too coconutty, and I don't think there is a huge difference in healthiness. The only coconut oils that are problematic, I think, are the "hydrogenated" ones (WHY they hydrogenate coconut oil is beyond me, but some of the commercial versions are).

did you mean the price comes close to olive oil? Was trying to figure out what you mean in the paragraph about Wilderness Family Naturals. Largest i've ordered at a time is a gallon but that is going pretty fast these days. I've been getting such good deals though that never investigated 5 gallon yet. about what does that run including shipping these days? I've been to their website before but at that time i think the 5 gal was NOT a good deal. i've learned that finding out where the dals on CO are from talking to thers has been key :)I heard Nutiva is out of stock right now? can't remember if i read that here or where...chantelleOn Mar 10, 2011, at 10:51 PM, Heather Twist wrote:
