Re: [fast5] Brand New To Fast-5 - Read The Book Twice But Still Have Some Questions

Replying to Bluechip's post....

My situation is SOMEWHAT similar.

I am older however (65)

Since starting Fast-5 in April of this year, I have lost over 20 pounds.

I started the program cold-turkey and found it VERY easy.  I have experienced some hunger during the day, but it goes away QUICKLY, and by he time my window opens, I am starting to feel stomach-hunger instead of just the quickly-passing kind.

I also workout an hour a day, 5 days a week.  I absolutely LOVE working out fasted....it's almost like I can feel results taking place right then.  I just keep drinking plenty of water.

I try to break my fast with a protein drink, but that sort of depends on if I have any delicious leftovers waiting for me in the frig.

I also travel...right now am in Germany.  I just changed my window to the new time.  No probs.

When I'm home, I have some weekly appointments that include eating.  At first it really worried me that those two days a week would throw Fast-5 off too much.  But I've found that 5 days a week keeping to Fast -5, I can do two "other" days without worrying.  I just try to be sensible and mindful on those days, which is good advice for me ANY time.
And the weight keeps coming off, slowly at my age, but that's ok.  I'm seein numbers on the scale now that I haven't seen since college :-)

And I LOVE that I just eat a normal meal once a day and don't worry very much about what it includes.  Naturally I try to choose wisely, but I don't obsess over a calorie count and daily totals as I once did.  And I can sure say that I ENJOY my food about 300% more :-)

Good luck to you!
Sandra

Hi Everyone,

Let me apologize in advance for the long post I'm about to write. I just came across this diet plan/lifestyle yesterday and spent most of the morning reading, researching and re-reading the book. I'm a fairly active person but ideally I would like to lose 20-25lbs to get back to my college weight. Since I've just turned 40, this would be a major accomplishment for me. Right now I'm trying to determine between trying the Warrior Diet or Fast-5.

Based on what I've read, I'm excited about the possibilites Fast-5 offers but have the following questions:

1. I workout in the morning (from 6:30am to 7:30am) 5 times a week. I usually take a supplement, eat 1 hard boiled egg and a small shake (Athletic Greens) prior to working out. Anyone have trouble working out in the morning on this program without food or are there some tips you can share?

2. Can multivitamins or other supplements be taken during the fasting phase?

3. I'm from California and do a lot of traveling to the east coast. The time zone change could frequently impact by eating windows - anyone have any advice on how to manage that?

4. Since this is my first time, any tips on managing hunger throughout the day? Pickles, small handful of nuts, etc?

5. Instead of getting cold turkey, I've been thinking of following the adjustment phase and having break-fast around noon. Will there be any weight loss or even worse, weight gain during the adjustment period?

6. Would I still see the benefits of weightloss if I did this program 5-6 days a week vs. 7? I'm a big believer in the 80/20 rule, but I'm not sure if it will work under this program.

7. Lastly, although I know this program may take up to 3 weeks to see results, anyone experience weight loss in the first 3 weeks?

Thanks very much for your help with answering these questions. I'm looking forward to being another successful fast-5er and a future prodcutive memeber of this group.

Paul
