Yeah it does sound like you will need to modify your diet. When people fast with juices or supplements they call it "Controlled Fasting" and it sounds like you may need to do that instead of a pure fast, maybe not everyday but it's better that you feel good over following a "protocol."
Why don't you try a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 4 almonds once you notice your blood sugar climbing. That small amount of vinegar with some water won't be too bad. Deepak Chopra has mentioned soaking almonds in water overnight so they're easier to eat.
If you're blood sugar is high FOR WHATEVER reason you need to lower it. So what if you're not totally fasting. You're also not eating a normal meal and laying on bodyfat all day with cronic elevated insulin all day like the rest of the population, and that's the point to begin with.
