* Hi Beth - I'm a silent member of this group and am actually not fasting at this time (well, sort of but it's not a 5-hr eating window; more like 7...). I learned a lot from this concept which have been most helpful to me these past two years.
I must also indicate that while i joined Fast5 to lose weight, my journey at the moment is to get healthy. I realized I had candida which has me eating low-carb and high-fat.
I am not currently losing weight.
OK. So take what I'm saying with all that in mind.
It makes me sad to hear your husband is hungry. Barnaby gave good advise on looking at the low-carb, high-fat way of eating (tho I don't believe I saw Barnaby mention 'high fat'; that is key).
I disagree with those who say he must count calories. Recall I'm following a pgm that will get me healthy; it says here in fine print that my weight will eventually 'balance out' when my health has been restore.
Your husband might be surprised how 'not hungry' he is when he follows, for instance, the Atkins program. Those books are pretty easy to find in a thrift store for cheap. Most helpful if he can find one that has carb counts in the back.
When he starts increasing his fat intake, he will lose the hunger. As he reads some of the good reading (links given by others), the Atkins book, Gary Taubes' (why we get fat), Life w/o bread, it will give him something to think about and ponder and perhaps look at bread, crackers, chips in a new light.
The good news is there are no ESSENTIAL carbs, so he does not have to eat veggies! And while exercise may help him feel better and gain some more flexibility, it is not needed to lose weight.
Karen
