Sugar, yes, fat, not if it’s healthy fat like animal fat. Sugar in any form, whether it’s pure cane sugar, fruit, or grains, will cause a spike in glucose and insulin. The latter is a fat storage hormone so you want to avoid chronically elevated insulin. Some people can eat fruit and be ok, others cannot. It all depends on how long you ate a SAD, whether you have insulin resistance, etc. Eating either a Paleo or Zero Carb diet is the way to go IMO.
Thanks for posting your experience. It will help others because that thought of “I am in my eating window” does like to creep in. I am sure you are not the only one dealing with this.

Subject: [fast5] Guess what......eating junk doesn't work!
The subject line says what we all know but I thought I was special and could get away with it.
Started Fast5 a few months ago and was doing fine, maintaining my weight (which is what I wanted), feeling great, not hungry and generally feeling smug.
Too smug in fact as I started munching several bars of chocolate every evening after my evening meal, not because I was hungry, just because I thought it's my eating window and so I am going to eat. The next few days I was starving practically as soon as I got up. So hungry I thought I was going to sick a few times. Ended up having to break my fasts a good 2 or 3 hours early. Felt tired, grumpy, hungry and miserable. My husband suggested perhaps I should give up Fast5 as it obviously wasn't working for me and I was inclined to agree with him. I thought, I'll do it for the rest of the week and if I don't feel better I'll have to try something else.
The next day I decided to only eat fruit, veg and nuts to give my system a bit of a break. Still had to break my fast early as felt hungry and sick. However, guess what, the next day I didn't feel hungry or sick. I didn't feel tired and grumpy. Finally I put my brain in gear and thought maybe it's eating all the sugar and fat that's in those bars of chocolate I stuffed down my throat just before going to bed every night.
That was nearly 2 weeks ago and I've been fine ever since. Have allowed myself to have the odd chocolate bar when I've felt like a treat, but have made sure I've eaten it early and had something healthy afterwards and not just forced food down for the sake of it.
I'm 43 years old, you'd think I'd could have worked this out years ago.
Just thought I'd share this in case anyone else is stupid enough to try and eat like I was. Clean food...it's the way forward!
