[fast5] Re: Fasting, exercise, and diabetes

Kim, beautifully put-

"Same thing with our metabolisms but we're so used to listening to "experts" that we don't know our own bodies."

I've been into health and nutrition for a long time. I've read all of the Eades, Cordain, Taubes stuff and it all makes a lot of sense. I've also read countless articles on carb loading and the importance of including grains, fruits, and vegetables in the diet and THAT makes a lot of sense. But when I stopped listening to other people and started listening to my body I got the best results. I do best with lots of vegetables, lean meats and fish, and no gluten. In fact, on days that I don't exercise, I don't eat meat at all. I just eat what I think I could find outside if I lived in nature (except coffee of course). I wanted to believe the dogma of meat and fat is all you need with some vegetation here and there, but every time I did my own research, it seemed that the majority of native cultures lived on tubers, vegetables, seeds, fruits, berries, and the occasional meat or fish. When I eat like that, the weight comes off.

The whole point of Fast-5 is that you can eat what your body asks for and while you're not eating, it repairs and maintains itself. Low insulin levels are maintained for at LEAST 19 hours a day so the whole "fat keeps insulin low" argument isn't really applicable here. Not eating all day keeps insulin low too.

Just because a person doesn't agree with another's points, it doesn't mean they haven't read the data. It likely means that they've looked at several different sides, from a different perspective, and chose to believe differently. Seems I've learned that nutrition is like religion and politics these days... never talk about it in polite company. :)

And BTW, HAPPY TWO YEAR FAST-5-AVERSARY TO ME!!!!
