[fast5] Re: Working Out

I just wanted to add that the time I remember passing out while working out, I can remember clearly what I was doing because I was on a specific program at a "wellness clinic" that included the eating plan, sessions with a personal trainer, chiropractic, etc. It was through my insurance. The diet change I made was that I started eating six small healthy whole foods meals a day. Before I started, I had been eating really badly -- a lot of junk food and sweets. I'd been on the new plan for several weeks when I passed out during an exercise session with a trainer. (Incidentally, he didn't believe me and was urging me to "push through it." Needless to say, he got what he deserved because he had to deal with me passing out. I never went back.)

According to conventional wisdom, eating six meals a day with balanced protein and carbs should be ideal for hypoglycemia. I guess the moral of that story is that you can't predict how your body will react to a change and that if you have a medical condition, like Bert said, it's best to closely monitor it with your health professional, especially during the early phases of a different WOE.

I have had that happen once or twice during exercise in the past, before I was doing FF (although I had changed my diet fairly suddenly for the week or two prior to when it happened on at least occasion I remember).

I also am pretty aware of the early symptoms, and try not to let it go too far. I get nausea, clammy skin, my mouth starts watering, then tunnel vision, then the hearing goes . . . I truly hate passing out and avoid it at all costs, so when I recognize it, I lie down quickly wherever I am. I tend to get very low blood pressure at the same time, so low that it won't register on a blood pressure monitor. I know this because I passed out once while I was having a minor outpatient medical procedure (and I was lying on the table at the time!). So I don't know which causes the symptoms or whether it's the combination, or one causes the other.
