I'm always amazed at what an herbivore can eat! Geese can
get big and strong living off nothing but *grass*. (I would guess
in the wild they eat fish too? But maybe not). But chickens
need bugs, and peacocks eat lizards and snakes, and those
animals need lots of protein to get big. Mainly because they
don't break down the cellulose like a goose can. Gorillas
actually can break down cellulose!

Humans obviously aren't *carnivores* though, because we also
need stuff that is only in plant food, and our digestive tracts
seem to be designed to like having lots of polysaccharides.
And some people really cannot digest meat well (esp. if you
have low HCL).

I'd also stipulate that we are designed to eat a lot *less*
than the typical modern person does today, and less
often. There is this big jump in health and clarity of mind
that most people seem to feel on Fast-5, while generally
eating far less. I eat one meal a day now, which is about
the same size as the three I used to eat, and my gut is a
whole lot happier. My family eats a whole lot less too,
than they used to when I made them sit down to 3 meals
a day.

Which makes me wonder: what *happened* to all that
extra food? They were not overweight before, and they
aren't overweight now.

So for those of you who are concerned about the environment
and the fate of animals (including those animals that are
displaced by soy farms!): you can feel good about this diet
regardless of what you choose to eat on it. The whole world
will be happier when all of us consume less.
