I was thinking about the similarity of Fast-5 to Ramadan. Actually Fast-5 has helped me to respect Ramadan, as when I first learned about Ramadan, the one month fast in Islam, I thought it was crazy and unhealthy. Now I know better: Just think, millions of people do something like Fast-5 once a year for an entire month! I wonder if anyone has done studies of health benefits from this.
One thing about Ramadan, during the day, you are not allowed to eat, smoke, or drink anything, you can't even drink water. I wonder about not drinking water, I don't know if I could do that, or if that would be good. Yet Ramadan is over a thousand years old, maybe older, maybe it has more ancient roots than Islam... is there some traditional wisdom in not drinking? I don't know, I am just speculating.
It's particuarly puzzling, as Islam developed in a hot, dry climate. No water all day. Yet it works well enough for most Muslims... Hmmmm.
I am thinking about a conversation we had here about drinking too much water, sometimes I am drinking water and herb tea all day and I can feel I've had too much....
Hmmm, Just thinking about it.
