Yup. If the lance it adjusted for minimum effective depth and is used on the side of the little finger (not on the surface of the index finger where the epidermis is tough and many nerve endings are present) the finger prick is painless. But, speaking from experience, it would likely take more than a few rather more painful attempts to find the painless groove. :-)

Yes, but if you know where to prick it  doesn't hut at all.  Also there are some models of "prickers' that you feel even less.
