Re: [fast5] Need advise on interesting change with following fast-5

Hi Heather. No not full as in bloated as in the food hasn't really digested. It is all just sitting there. I do have a VERY slow digestive system. This may be TMI, but once I go to the bathroom the feeling does start to dissipate. Also, I have kept a food diary for over 15 years trying to see what foods I do well with and what I don't.

I do have trouble digesting certain foods, like corn, peanuts, and lately cooked spinach. Basically it doesn't digest at all -- what goes in is what comes out again.

I am thinking that my digestion is getting slower instead of better using fast 5. As I think I may have said. April, May, Jun and the first part of July were great. No problems. Losing weight and inches just fine. No full feeling, etc. Then about mid to late July, this started happening.

I am basically a fish a terian.   I don't eat any red meat (can't stand it) or turkey. I can't eat any dairy of any kind (no cheese, eggs, milk products, etc) as I get really sick from dairy. Not sick like lactose intolerance either, more like I am passing stones through my digestive track.

I do best eating any kind of fish, vegetables, fruit, and grains.  Now I am wondering if something else is adapting to the fast 5 and my body isn't happy. Maybe I need to reduce how much I am eating. Or try and break fast earlier to give me more time to digest the food.

Sincerely

Are you saying you feel "full" as in "bloated", the next morning? The waist-size thing would seem to indicate that.

IME bloating is usually a sign of dysbiosis: feeding the wrong bacteria. Foods you don't digest well might do that. Exactly what foods do that to you depends on you. But keeping a food log might help you pinpoint them. Fast-5 makes it easier to do that, since you only have one meal to track!

Taking 1/4 tsp konjac powder with a meal helps me with digestion though: it makes digestion happen over a larger section of the gut and changes the bacterial mix (it tends to kill bad bacteria and feed the good ones). You can buy it from miraclenoodles.com, or buy PGX pills (which cost more, but they are convenient). It doesn't work for everyone and some people get a bit of gas when they start taking it, but I find it very useful.

Hi all.

I have a question for everyone. I have been doing fast 5 since April 1 2010. I am doing great having lost over 25 lbs and 2 pants sizes in that time. I exercise regularly and break my fast at 6:30pm as that works best for me.

here is my issue. Recently, I have noticed that when I break my fast I feel satisfied and not over full. I could eat more because it tastes good but I choose not to in hopes of getting to my goal weight this year. At any rate, I am noticing that come morning, I feel like I ate 10 times as much food as I really did. This wasn't happening in April, May, Jun, and first part of July. I notice my pants are even tighter in the morning and as the day goes on the size goes back down.

Does anyone know or have an idea of what is happening? I eat pretty healthy. For example, the other night I had 2 wild caught salmon fillets (4 oz each) poached in a lemon garlic sauce I made instead of buying. I made a small (about 1/3 cup) of quinoa and a medium salad (with spinach, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, red and yellow peppers, blueberries, celery and no dressing) The next morning I felt like I had eaten at least 10 times that much food.

Thanks for any insights.

Sincerely
