Karen ,
One major reason that Fast 5 works is that the long fast gives your system enough time for insulin to drop. Many people are overweight due to insulin reistance. Which is too much circulating insulin in their system, which in turn prevents the fat from coming out of the cells.
Low carb does the same thing because eating carbs raises your blood sugar requiring insulin to bring it down. Eating low carb demands less insulin.
Everybody is different. For some people low carb is enought to bring the insulin low enough. Others, like me then had to also do Fast 5 to see a result.
But for other people doing both Fast -5 and low carb will bring the insulin too low.....thereby creating hunger and the same kind of unhealthy weight loss you see in type 1 diabetics.
Metabolism is a delicate balancing act. Bothe insulin and blood sugar need to be kept in a tight range. Too high or too low for either is not a good thing.
That is why i said if you are hungry all the time something is wrong. We are each different. Almost everybody on this list who has been successful that is lost weight and felt good, absence of hunger ( but good appetite for scheduled meals) and good energy had their own individual way of following fast 5.
Listen to your own body. No charts are going to give you the complete answer.

I know I could consume a lot of sugar, too, but high sugar consumption was when i was Fast5ing...)

I have been breaking my fast w/bacon & eggs and some berries. also because of my schedule this week, my 2nd and final meal is a smoothie made w/2 scoops of whey protein (i did not give it away). then i would eat this coconut oil/PB/coconut/cocoa powder concoction to get my fats in.

Tuesday, my DDs bday, i had a bit of ice cream, on purpose. Wednesday, i was out of control. i ate a chicken leg, 2 servings of raw peanuts and 1.5-2 Tbsp almond butter!!! i had to go brush my teeth to stop eating! AND I was hungry all Thursday morning until I finally broke my fast!
