[fast5] hungry all the time during fast?

I've shared this with Ellen, but want to ask here since she stated that if a person is hungry during their fasting period then 'something is wrong'.

Believing I've got some blood sugar issues (but have not done any testing; just self-diagnosing), I have chosen to eat low-carb, high-fat and started that last week.

(the reason I feel i have some blood sugar issues is because of my crashing mid-morning and mid-afternoon; this when i was eating 'normally'; breakfast at 7am, lunch at noon, etc. Perhaps it was just because I was having too many carbs at those meals. I know I could consume a lot of sugar, too, but high sugar consumption was when i was Fast5ing...)

Because of my schedule this week, I have moved my eating window to noon-5pm. I have been breaking my fast w/bacon & eggs and some berries. also because of my schedule this week, my 2nd and final meal is a smoothie made w/2 scoops of whey protein (i did not give it away). then i would eat this coconut oil/PB/coconut/cocoa powder concoction to get my fats in.

yesterday's calories was just under 1400, which is typical for me. i strive to have my protein around 100 grams, carbs under 80 grams and the balance good fats.

all this week, hunger has struck around 8pm; 3 hrs after i've consumed my last meal and ~1400 cals/day. each night, i have given in to it. Monday, I ate fried rice. Tuesday, my DDs bday, i had a bit of ice cream, on purpose. Wednesday, i was out of control. i ate a chicken leg, 2 servings of raw peanuts and 1.5-2 Tbsp almond butter!!! i had to go brush my teeth to stop eating! AND I was hungry all Thursday morning until I finally broke my fast!

Three possibilites come to mind:
1) the timing of my eating window. i did not have this issue when my eating window was 2-7pm.
2) the last meal is liquid
3) heaven forbid, calories not high enough for my level of activity

I'd appreciate insight, please.

as way of review, i'm 51, 5'6", weigh about 138, do serious strength training 4 days/wk and have belly fat i want to get rid of!
