Hey Rick,
I thought you might appreciate a female perspective, as oftentimes, men guess wrong about what women think. ; )
I think what a woman likes in terms of physique varies greatly. I, for one, tend to go for the slim yet strong type. I don't need to see bulging biceps, but wimpy arms are a turn-off. Since guys can misinterpret what I mean by "wimpy," I like it when a guy hugs me and I can feel some strength. Maybe it's the biological aspect that David mentioned -- I like to know that strength is there if I need it. But that's just me. As a group, I'd have to say that women are also much more tolerant of changes in our guys' physique than you might think. We are generally much more focused on whether we are connecting emotionally on a day-to-day basis than if you have a bit of a belly or whatever.
I'm not currently married, but if I were, I would say that I would care much more that my husband is healthy as he advances in age than if he were too slim (I'm 46). Vitality (not the intimate kind -- that's a different subject) and energy counts for a lot, so I care that a guy cares about remaining active and can do the things I like to do. Because I think FF is inherently more healthy than any other way of eating, I would be glad that my hubby was doing it and being conscious of making healthy choices.
When I hike and see fit older folks outpacing me, I think "I want to be like that!" Speaking of that -- David -- I checked out the pic of Dr. Scwartz on his website. Seriously impressive!! I want to be the feminine version of him! I'm 46, and just seeing this photo has motivated me to get off my fanny and back into weight training. I'm going to take a look at his progrem.
Susie
