I so agree that we can trust our appetites.
BTW - I did the rice diet as a teenager. (My mom worked at Duke and that is where the research was done, so everyone was doing it.) I don't remember all the details but if I remember correctly the rice diet was ONLY rice. And 1 cup portions of it, too. Maybe an apple. It was a starvation diet, not about adding rice to all your regular meals.
