The first week or two, just don't worry about it. The first week
you're body is really getting used to it, and binging is normal.
Re-reading the book will help!
But if you are worried about it, eat a mess of raw vegies
as your first food ... a big salad with vinegar/oil (any kind of
sour) dressing is the best. That lets you chew and chew
and binge, guiltlessly. Also the fiber and acid will slow
down the blood sugar rush from the rest of the food,
which is better for your appetite in the long run.
A big bowl of soup works too. Learning how to make a good
chicken soup is a life skill that will serve you well (it's
easy too).
A good basic formula for meals is:
Soup/Salad
Meat/cooked vegies
Starch
Dessert
When I visited Spain some years ago, they basically
served their big meal one course at a time, in just
about that order. First would be a big bowl
of soup. Followed by a big plate of green beans
(they may have been fava beans) or a frittata.
Then a tiny bit of beef or fish. Then potatoes
or rice. Last a tiny dessert. The meal took a couple
of hours and you were stuffed by the end of it!
I don't have that kind of patience, and these days
I also don't have that much appetite, but I like the
general idea. And by the time dessert comes around
you really can't eat much of it.

Plus, I am at a weight that is still not my ideal weight...I'm at 145 (5' 5"), and according to the charts in the book I should weigh around 125. That's also the weight I look best at. Even though I could live with 145 for the rest of my life, I would like to lose at least 10 more pounds and keep it off.
