Re: [fast5] Re: insomnia, blood sugar and falling asleep?

I am so glad you wrote this.  What we have been finding out at our blood suger group is that everybody seems to have varying patterns. And they find that no matter what is "supposed' to happen if they make specific changes to what or when they eat it sdoesn't always work that way for them.

Since this is a fasting group, I would also point out that you have

to be careful about "fasting blood glucose". Your body can cause
a glucose rise by pumping out too much cortisol when it is
hungry. This can cause high numbers, but it doesn't directly
have to do with insulin resistance. It was one of those surprises
I found when I bought my glucometer! Most of the time my BG
was ok, but when I got hungry and shaky, it was HIGH.

Not Sanjeev here but the problem is not having the *diagnosis* of diabetes  which, as you say, you will have forever as it cannot be cured.   The problem is having blood sugar and insulin levels that go too far out of the very narrow range the body likes to maintain homeostasis..  You can have that  diagnosis or not, and still have poorly controlled blood sugar, which you will only know about by doing some at home post meal testing because post meal high blood sugars may never result in high fasting blood sugar, or it will take years to do so.  In which case much damage will be done by that time that will be irreversible. If you want good health, the best possible that you can achieve, it cannot be done without good blood sugar and insulin control.  Many problems which seem unconnected arise from poor control: heart disease,  all kinds of tendon problems, blood pressure problems, erectile dysfunction, eye problems, nerver damage, mood and energy.

You can use your glucometer to find out how to eat in a way that will control your blood sugar.  Many people have been astonished to see what their numbers actually were.  It is a huge eyeopener.
