It depends on your goals. If you're trying to lose weight, you'll have to be more restrictive with the quantity and types of food. If you're trying to maintain your weight and live longer, food type isn't AS important, but you should strive to eat 25-40% less calories than the RDA says you should. All in all though, it's ALWAYS a good idea to eat less grains and sugars and more fruits and vegetables. Animal fats and proteins are good (in the absence of grains and sugars) and vegetable oils are bad. Wine, beer, whisky... good in small quantities. Again, what's your goal? Alcohol can slow or reverse your weight loss progress but if you're just maintaining, go for it.
