Some people feel better if they eat right after they work out and if that's what makes you feel better then I think that's your answer but I'm one of those people who feels worse if I eat right afterward. I actually like the feeling I have after a workout and I don't want to do anything to screw it up. I remember one day back in April of this year, I worked out in the morning (45 minute interval weights) and I didn't eat anything all that day and I didn't eat till the next day at about 4pm and I felt fine and honestly could have gone longer. I was just so busy and couldn't be bothered with food. The workout just made me feel so good and I knew if I ate I would feel sluggish again. When I eat at night I don't feel sluggish, I just feel that way if I eat in the daytime. Even though I'm not a fan of the Warrior Diet, I really like his explaination of why it feels better to eat at night- something to do with relaxing after all the work is done for the day. Lately I've been eating only one meal a day but the meal is about 2 hours long. I eat typical health food and then I eat whatever I crave and it's usually about 6-8 hours after I've lifted. I don't believe in that "window of opportunity of muscle growth after a workout." Even if it is true and I'm wrong, even if I do eat it's going to take HOURS for the food I've eaten to be broken down and even start to be absorbed, even if it's a protein shake. If we need nutrients right after we've worked out, then we should eat something 5 hours before we even workout because then the timing will be about right. The meal will be being absorbed about the time I'm done with the workout, but no one tells you to do this because it's doesn't sell supplements. It probably also doesn't make a damn difference. Eating during the daytime is fine if your active or on steroids, otherwise forget about it. It isn't going to make a difference.
