Re: [fast5] Hello and thinking about doing the Fast 5

Yes, do read the archives.  You will find many different stories and perspectives there.

i tried this more for some health issues --fatigue, energy, sleep... tahn for weight loss.  I had lost about 10 r 15 pounds on low carb and then plateaued.  I was still about 15 pounds from where I wanted to be, but really had given up  on losing anymore weight.  So i was pleasantly surprised when the weight just melted off at a steady 2 pounds per week.

We are just not intended to eat all the time ( which is what I did) For most of man's time on earth food was simply not available in the way it is now.   Our bodies can't handle it and all the many hormones like insulin, leptin, cortisol etc.  get out of balance from this continual bombardment  with food.  If you look at the fact that we have only one hormone to lower blood sugar (insulin)  and three or four to raise it (cortisol, andrenaline, others I can't remember, it seems logical to conclude that we haven't needed to deal with overabundance, but scarcity,  That our hormonal systems developed in this way to help us adjust to the irregular availability of food. IF seems to help these systems come back into balance and restore a more natural appetite.  It  also seems to help clarify what foods you really need to feel good.  Maybe because we are not eating so much or so often, it is easier to observe the effects of particular foods or kinds of foods.  Or maybe it is  because of the hormones that regulate our appetite coming into a better balance.  Whatever the cause, it certainly is liberating.

After my first 6 month of Fast 5 I ate three meals a day for abut 8 months.  The weight stayed off and my appetite was in control.  I went back  on for about 6 months and am now eating three meals a day.  Mostly I have  gone back to "normal eating' as experiments to see the effect on things like my blood lipids.  I actually prefer FF.

Give it a try.
