According to www.cron-web.org there is some evidence that shows that calorie restriction can prevent "Age-Related Muscle Wasting" and "Skeletal 'disintegration'". I had always thought that load bearing exercise was the only sure and natural way of maintaining bone and muscle density as we age. I need to do some more research on this but it sounds interesting.
