[fast5] Re: Plant based diet

> -Meat repulses me.

I hear you on that, I actually think meat is delicious but for me, it's my personal beliefs and my relationship with other living beings that stops me from eating them.

> Just the mere thought of putting dead animal flesh in my mouth

Again I hear you on that count, regardless of how meat is prepared and how people rationalize and or justify eating it... the source is still the same.

That said, so far I have had nothing but respect and tolerance from other group members (who are mostly non-vegan).

>Im not a wild animal.

Agreed, it has said that we humans bridge the gap from nature to culture (but we shouldn't discredit wild animals in that they are not malicious or evil per se they are just surviving, doing their thing, and living life in a natural way).

>I also do not believe we are supposed to cook food.

That's an interesting belief. I am partially with you in that foods in their whole & natural states contain vital energy and enzymes which are very integral to our health and evrybody could probably benefit from eating more fruits & veggies but I also believe that it was cooking foods that allowed us to expand our diet and get through tough times, too.

>All our food is here on the earth. There was no fire until man invented it.

Good point but I'm not sure man "invented" anything; I'd say that man is more of an discoverer, emulator and imitator than inventor (I don't mean that in a bad way but fire and many other "inventions" existed in nature, probably before we did).

>Ok like beans, thats the only thing of the Fuhrman diet I dont agree with because to eat beans >you have to cook them. Thats why we have seeds and nuts.

Good point.

>Man origionally ate of the land, not animals and cooking that was all invented.

I think you are correct and that's why I choose not to eat animals when I can get the energy directly from the sun by eating plants, in addition to my belief that animals are sentient beings who i will not eat; they are my family.

>At that point life spans became shorter. But I dont want to start a big debate on meat.

That's a good idea, in my opinion it's all about tolerance. Do what we can on our part and respect others. Forcing people and judging right or wrong is something to be hopefully moved beyond.

>Im on day 2 now and ive lost 10 lbs. And I like not eating during the day,it slows me down, I >think eating should be done in the evening hours which makes this Fast 5 perfect.

That's great Rob. Personally i am not as concerned with the overall numbers but body composition; anotherwords I wanna lose fat not muscle or water weight (although that may be unavoidable to a certain degree).

Perhaps the challenge with fast 5 among other things is to find that middle ground, where you don't overeat to compensate only eating for 5 hours or undereat and not get the nutrients needed... although it is said that the first month or so one of those may happen and then you settle into it.

Look into CRON: caloric reduction optimum nutrition.

That's sort of my guess on what we are trying to do whether it is in a shortened eating window like Fast 5 or in other intermittent fasting and CR or Volumetrics type diets.
