OK, I'm just going to jump in to this one head first. Not looking for a fight here, but you asked. :)
Fast-5 helps you to eat less food through less meals. I find that it therefore helps me to eat less meat which helps me to feel like I'm less involved in supporting the farming factories. Hindus believe that when you eat the flesh of animals, the energy of the animal is passed on to your energy fields. If the animal you eat was killed violently or while the animal was scared, that negative energy is passed on to you when you consume it. I try to only eat animals that were free range, organically raised, etc.
So yes, Fast-5 helps me on a spiritual level by enabling me to eat less meat. I'm not sure if vegetarianism is very healthy for humans so I don't think I'll travel that path. But eating less meat can only help the planet so in that respect Fast-5 can be part of a spiritual outlook.
I like to meditate on an empty stomach as well so Fast-5 gives me more time in the course of a day to be able to meditate.
