Hi all,
I stumbled on Fast-5 today through the Shangri-La forum. I started today, and I'm going for a modified cold turkey approach. Today, I didn't eat until 1:30. I'd almost forgotten that it actually feels pretty good to go without food. I'm going to shoot for 3 pm to 8 pm. I don't like to eat too close to bedtime.
For much of my adult life (I'm now 46, and my kids are grown), I didn't eat breakfast and was slim and healthy. I skipped lunch a lot of the time, too, because I was busy and not hungry. I always made sure to eat a good dinner with my kids in the evening. I allowed myself to be convinced that it wasn't healthy, started eating more often (and more carbs!), and gained a lot of weight. I then lost it all instinctively eating this way a few years back. I did it because that's how I used to eat. But I again caved to the "you HAVE to eat breakfast" mantra. It's such a relief to have validation that my instinctive way of eating is healthy and will keep me slim, and I'm certain that I will soon be back at my normal weight.
I also started a dance-based strength and flexibility routine this week, and I plan to walk at a nearby lake a few times a week. I have a lot of stiffness from lack of exercise in the last few years. I've been in law school (lots of time sitting), and I graduate in June. My birthday is also the end of May. It's my plan to be much slimmer by then and get some much cuter clothes. :)
I've spent some time today reading about 2 months worth of posts. So thanks to everyone for the information.
Susie
