Here's what works for me when I'm hungry -- and it's all mental.
1. I remember a quote from Judith Beck's book, The Beck Diet: "HUNGER IS NEVER AN EMERGENCY." Dr. Beck says that severe bleeding, for example, is a true emergency and must be tended to. But hunger is not; if you do nothing, guess what? It goes away. It's never an emergency.
2. When I feel my stomach growling and it's not time to eat, I think to myself, "Good. This mild discomfort means I'm losing weight." (I'm obese, so that's a good thing!)
