Re: [fast5] 4 weeks in

What you're suggesting is exactly the strategy used in the Carbohydrate Addicts plan that I've been following for years. The main meal is always started with a big salad. Since starting FF, I've stopped doing that and I know I need to get back into that habit. It really does make a difference.  Yesterday a broke my fast with a big bowl of microwave popcorn.  :-(   It tasted REALLY good, but that's not a habit I want to get into. Today I plan to have string cheese or cottage and celery and maybe some unsalted almonds with a cup of decaf and cream.

I'm going to try the lemon/vinegar and tea/water the next time I'm feeling chilly. I've done lemon in hot water a couple of times the curb my hunger, and that has helped.  I sip decaf (with a little reg pumpkin spice mixed in) all morning, but I've had enough by noon, so I'll try switching to tea and lemon in the afternoon and see how that works.

Thanks for the tips, Heather!

For vegies, it helps to eat your vegies first (or with the first part
of your meal). It doesn't work for me at all if I wait. I save sweets
for last ... usually I don't eat them either, or not much because I'm
full, but probably sweets aren't really needed for good health :-)

The "cold" part is sometimes cortisol, a hormone that gets pumped out
to raise your blood sugar. It can give you the "low blood sugar"
feelings (even if your blood sugar is just fine or even high).
Exercise, oddly enough, helps (it makes you pump out adrenaline, which
counteracts cortisol, IIRC). Drinking lemon juice tea or some vinegar
in water can help too.
