The diet I'm on, I made up. The actual "Japanese Diet" they made up in
Japan somewhere, like, 1,000 years ago probably. I got a book on it
that was sent to me by a friend, but my Mom cooked Japanese food a lot
because my Dad was stationed in Japan after WW2, and had a "yen" for
it (pun intended).
What happened to me recently is that I was on a cruise ship. Said ship
had LOTS of food, but, I can't eat wheat, and the "regular" meals at
the tables included lots of dinner rolls etc, and they weren't good
about not including wheat on my plates. Long story short, I ended up
eating in the "Asian" section of the ship, pigging out 3x a day
because I was feeling sorry for myself. I lost 10 lbs.
So, when I "stalled" on Fast-5, I started researching what might have
been going on (trust me, pigging out 3x a day NEVER worked for me to
lose weight!). Now I'm still doing Fast-5, but eating more
Japanese-style food in my window. Still pigging out. And it's working
beautifully.
My caveat is: the Sumo wrestlers in Japan eat "Japanese food", but
they are fat! However, they eat a specific menu. My theory is, it's
the low-iron part of the Japanese menu that makes it work. Sumo
wrestlers eat the high-iron part of the Japanese diet (root vegies,
beef, cooked in an iron pot, traditionally).
It's purely a theory at this point, and I'm the only experimenter that
I know of. Anyone else wants to try it, I'd love to hear the results.
