Re: [fast5] Re: (Rick - muscles, protein) and Karen

I went to "natural salt" too and had issues. We still do like the "sea salt"
but what I did was to make some furikake seasoning, which is what
they use in Japan. It has salt in it, but mainly it's salty ground seaweed,
seseme seeds, bonito flakes, and anything else you want to toss in.
Sounds weird, but it tastes *great*. Way better than plain ol' salt.
You can buy one in an Asian market, then use the shaker to store
your own version..

Most diets in the world are iodine deficient, and it does cause
a slew of problems. In the past, people traded for dried seaweed
and dried fish, which prevented goiter. But you can get problems
way before it gets to the goiter stage.

However, the reason I originally started avoiding iodine was
because of dermatitis herpetiformis. Iodine triggers itching,
if you have that, because it stimulates the latent IgA antibodies somehow.
So if you start eating seaweed and get itchy skin, you might
have a gluten problem.
