Well, like you I got itchy after being glutened. I blamed it on invisible
flea babies, and our poor cat suffered multiple vet visits. But I was the
only one who got bit! Eventually we figured out it was my nightly beer.
I never much ate bread (didn't like it) but I did have a beer every
night, with wasa bread.

However, when I went GF, I would still randomly get itchy, after eating
stuff like shrimp. I couldn't figure out how gluten could get in the shrimp,
until I found out about iodine. So I cut out ALL iodine for 2 years,
which worked nicely. But then I got issues from lack of iodine.

When I added the iodine back in though, I didn't have problems with it.
I think the IgA deposits go away after being GF for awhile. Last time
I got glutened I didn't get itchy either.

So I can't say if it's a problem for anyone else or not. Probably depends
on IgA deposits: they DO go away eventually.
