It happens to a lot of people. Basically your "weight" consists of
water, fat, bone, muscle. Of the four, fat weighs the *least*. Fat is
like styrofoam. If you have a big box of, say, beef fat, you will be
surprised how light it is.
Fast-5 tends to cause fat loss, I think, but not bone, muscle, or water
loss so much. Most "starvation" diets cause a lot of water loss,
and also eventually muscle and bone loss. So you may have
lost a few pounds of fat, which make your muscles more defined,
but you also may have GAINED muscle, or your muscles may
be more compact. You can gain muscle without exercising, if
your body is happier.
Or you may just have more water for some reason. 2 lbs of water
is only 4 cups, which isn't really much mass at all.
It's better I think to ignore the scale mostly and concentrate on
how you feel and how your jeans fit. If your weight is in the 140's
you don't have a LOT of fat to lose anyway.

Although I still haven't lost much weight (was down to 147.3 on Saturday but seemed to have gone back up to 149 today - starting weight was 151 - 4 weeks ago), I put on a pair of jeans over the weekend that were tight on me not that long ago and they fit. By the end of the day they were even a little loose!
I'm happy about this, but a bit perplexed on how I can appear thinner (I have noticed subtle changes in my body composition, for example, my arm muscles seem more defined) but not really lose any scale weight. I haven't done anything differently as far as exercise either. I might have more energy to run around with my kids than I used to, but am still not really doing any formal exercise.
This is weird. Did this happen to you at first? Lost inches before weight?
