[fast5] Re: First Day

Hi. I am glad to see so many females doing this. I am a 42 year old
female, 5'4" and 120 pounds. I also eat a primal diet. I am enjoying
the not eating and the feeling of being satiated.
I was wondering if some of you gals could give an example o how much
you eat during your five hour window.

[fast5] Re: Update: Using Fast 5 After Major Surgery

I'm sorry you're healing so slowly. What exactly are you eating? Do you ever drink green juices? I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea (so to speak) but when I'm ill I green juice and I from illness very quickly plus my skin absolutely GLOWS. You need to get nutrients into your cells fast - and green juicing does that. You can search "green juicing" on youtube for fantastic recipes - it's so easy.

Sometimes I green juice around noon then have my regular Fast 5 meal at dinner time. I know the juicing isn't technically a fast but in your case I believe you could make an exception for a few days. Try it for a few days, you WILL be amazed.

I also put raw honey on cuts and wounds and it aids the healing process tremendously. Best wishes to you!

I use Fast 5 to help control my allergies, although I'm not strict with the window, I do have to at least fast 15hrs for it to help. Anyway at that time I was only 5 weeks post op. I was having a lot of issues with my body rejecting the stitches and spitting it out. My iscisions just weren't healing well because of it. At least the general conscensus I got and what I felt, was well try it and see how things go.
>

Not tired like I wanted to sleep but just didn't have any energy. So I went back to eating breakfast for a few weeks. And out popped more stitches instantly. I've also been extremely tender still with quite a bit of pain. So this week and last I tried it again but not everyday, just a few times, and things are better. So far this week I've done it everyday. I'm still pretty sore, but some of the swelling is finally starting to go down, and my scars are actually looking pretty fantastic.

Re: [fast5] Re: First Day

The thing that works for me, for hunger, is to make sure there is plenty

of protein the *day before*. Fish, eggs, and whey protein appear to be
the proteins that affect satiety the most in the long run.

I've never had much luck with appetite suppressants in the past.
Right now I just don't get hungry generally ... after my morning cup of
coffee I feel like I just ate a meal.

Congratulations! It also slashes your food bill, and in my case, keeps me from living in the kitchen. When we transitioned off processed foods I found that I was in the kitchen most of the day, either making or cleaning up after meals, constantly. One meal of day is easy!

Re: [fast5] First Day

Kudos for you both! It's neat you support each other like that.

On tea, what I've found is that "real" tea doesn't work well on an empty stomach. However, for the first time ever, I've started appreciating other kinds of teas. One of my favorites is just hot water over half a lime. Or frozen pieces of a fruit called "Buddha's Fingers" (weird name, weird fruit: awesome taste). Neem leaves. Scented geraniums (frozen) that I grew in my garden. A spoonful of Hershey's Special Cocoa. I invested in a hot-shot type water dispenser, which makes tea easy. I think my body likes hot liquids in general, and it keeps me from over-doing coffee.

[fast5] First Day

it's my first day on fast 5, yesterday I had a lunch date so I skipped breakfast and had lunch and dinner. Today jumping in to see how I do, skipped breakfast which was not hard for me, usually would have a protein shake, still had my coffee with a little unsweetened almond milk, only about 9 calories but it didnt taste as good as my usual creamer so I didnt drink it all, made some vanilla bean tea instead, no creamer needed. Got grumbly in the stomach by about 1:00pm so I had some more hot tea with stevia. also drinking lots of water, the grumblys got better and now have 1 more hour until my window at 5pm.... not bad for my first day. I also sucked on a sugar free hard candy for a minute then spit it out and also chewed a piece of sf gum for about a min, that helped, I know I wont need these in the future. Wish I liked tea more, it's so bitter even with non cal sweetener but I will get used to it. My mom is also starting this today, we have talked on the phone a few times to give support. She has had cancer 3 times in the past and hoping fast 5 will help it to NEVER come back.

Re: [fast5] Update: Using Fast 5 After Major Surgery

Sorry to hear about the long healing time! But good experimenting, sounds like you are making good progress.

One thing I have found that helps with healing is heat ... if you have a heat pad, try it on the wound, at a gentle level. This increases circulation and bacteria actually die at a rather low heat, allowing the healing process to work.

Also I've used fresh aloe gel (from an aloe vera leaf) on wounds. It does seem to spur healing, although in the case of a surgery wound I'm not sure if it would be recommended or not.

At least the general conscensus I got and what I felt, was well try it and see how things go.

Well I tried it from Week 5 - Week 8 post op, so for 3 weeks. Although my body stopped spitting stiches and it did help with some of the pain I was experiencing.  I was just tired ALL the time.

So as long as my energy level stays up, I'm going to continue to try this. And it just may be were I don't do it everyday just every other day or every couple of day.  It could be a coincidence of course too.  I am after all 13.5 weeks post up, so who knows for sure, but looks promising anyway.

[fast5] Update: Using Fast 5 After Major Surgery
