[fast5] Re: Calories per day - for weightloss

I try to get somewhere between 1800 and 2500 calories per day, but it varies. I'll eat what I think I need (nutritionally) and keep track with FitDay.com. If I got the nutrition but not enough calories, I feel it the next day in the gym. So that night I'll eat an extra breast or spoonful of peanut butter or an extra plate of salad to increase my reserves for the next day's workout. I like what Phil said... something like some days he'll eat 4000 calories but then the next day he'll eat 2500. I don't eat as much as Phil (usually) ;) but there's a similar methodology.

The thing to keep in mind with Fast-5 is that most of your energy comes from fat stores because unlike traditional eating patterns, you're not burning what you take in during your 4-6 meals, you're living on your fat supplies. I'm not sure how a fitness competitor could live on fat stores as, well, there's not much fat there. You might want to check out www.marksdailyapple.com . They are an intermittent fasting advocate who focus on IF and performance and endurance training.

Let us know how you make out with Fast-5. I'm curious to know how it holds up to extreme exercise routines and low bodyfat.

I'm really curious about how many calories other Fast-5er's are consuming daily on average. I understand this is all relative to goals but I wondered if I'm in the same ballpark. I am currently training for a fitness competition in which I have to be very lean so I want to keep my calories lower for fat loss in particular. However, I do plan to continue this as my lifestyle after my competition and won't be as concerned about total calories. I'm currently averaging from 850 to 1300 per day - with 1300 including my weekend wine!
