[fast5] Re: Reality Check

I don't think there's anything wrong with intentional short term crash diets or therapuetic diets (vegetarian or just juice) used to get you past a plateau in weight loss or just to allow your body a rest or to cleanse itself. I also don't think there's anything wrong with taking a week off of dieting altogether. Sometimes it's a nice break from yourself. I find it's much easier to let the events of life tell you what to do and when to do it. Wedding receptions, office parties, birthday parties, Holiday dinners- when these things come up just enjoy them. What I don't do anymore is eat a fish fry just because it's friday or have a 'cheat day' for no reason whatsoever. My idea of a cheat day is going to the chinese buffet and going all out BUT I never gain weight because it's always during my 5 hours. Even wedding receptions don't last 5 hours and last summer I went to 2 of them and found I couldn't eat for longer than 5 hours anyway. The only thing that sometimes get's me is when the boss buys everyone pizza for lunch on a random friday just to improve the attitude in the office. When that happens I just enjoy it and then have steak and salad (with virtually calorie free vinigarette) for dinner, even if it's past my 5 hours, and I find there's no negative effect whatsoever. The psychological effect of being "naughty" once in a while actually helps :)

I go on and off of it at times but lately have been on it more than off. It works and is easy. A huge thanks to Dr. Herring for sharing this with the world -- especially for free!
