| I have been experimenting with sort of a hybrid of the Fast 5 / Eat Stop Eat regimen - that is to say, if I have a day that I really overfeed, the following day I will keep my calories well under 1000 or fast completely and stick to coffee, tea, and distilled water (and my amino acid / vitamin supplements). I won't eat again until my next 5-hour window the following day. It seems to do a great job eradicating all the water-retention/bloating that always makes you feel so gross for a couple of days after you overindulge. The understanding that you don't really start to catabolize muscle unless you fast for 72 hours was helpful information. I don't think I've ever gotten to half that, and usually my calorie intake is between 2000 and 4000 calories a day (depending on whether I'm lifting or not, and I'm 6'4" so I can get away with more). |
