Re: [fast5] Fast-five with PGX and Intuitive Eating and questions

I take konjac (one of the fibers in PGX) regularly. It is GREAT STUFF.
It is not "just a fiber" ... it helps your digestion greatly, making it
easier to digest starches and lowering the glycemic curve. It also
helps heal your gut by feeding the bacteria that produce butyrate.
And it does help with appetite: esp. so in my case, where I tend
to eat because my stomach just doesn't feel good because of
stomach issues (not true hunger).

However, it didn't help me especially with weight loss. What
has worked for that (in addition to Fast-5) is swapping beef
for fish ... I'm not sure of all the mechanism for that, but
I think maybe heme iron (and iron supplemented starches)
can act as a trigger of some sort for insulin. At any rate, if
you look at the fish-eating countries vs. the beef-eating countries,
the fish eaters are on average skinnier. Also I "get full" a lot
faster with a fish meal, and people have mentioned here that
fish oil speeds up the metabolism.

I agree with intuitive eating, though generally Fast-5 changes
people's eating habits no matter what ... most people find they
just start eating less food and wanting higher-quality food.
