Re: [fast5] Re: so FULL

i would suggest real food most of the time rather than the protein powders...and that when you do have protein powder be sure to have some fat with it...cream, butter coconut oil in the shake.    But have meat, eggs, fish (lus fat as often as you can, cooked in those good fats.  It doesn't have to take much time. Eggs take a few minutes, opening a can of sardines or salmon, likewise.  A plain steak or burger not much longer.

Yes, for some of us the carbs just make us hungrier.  The great thing is that it gets easier to avoid them the longer you don't eat them.  I personally look on them as poison now....but it took me a while.

I think I've stumbled on a way to suppress my appetite until I get down to my goal weight. And you're right Ellen, it DOES involve protein. Normally when I come home from work I'm not hungry until I eat something... but once I put food in my mouth, everything is fair game.

But recently I found that if I make a protein shake and then about an hour later eat a HUMUNGOUS salad, I don't even want to see food for the rest of the night.

So the protein shake is 2 scoops of Bomber Blend powder(40 grams of protein), two small bananas, a little pure vanilla extract, a half cup of water, and 6 cubes of ice, all thrown in the blender. Sometimes I'll add blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries.

Then I'll make a HUGE salad of baby spinach, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers, onions, yellow orange and red bell peppers, and celery. Top it off with sunflower seeds, goat cheese crumbles, sea salt and pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

I wash all that down with a glass of wine or a low calorie beer.

Then later, I'll make one more banana and protein powder shake and call it a day.

This seems to keep my spoon out of the peanut butter and cream cheese. ;)

Another thing that I've found is that if I just don't eat the first cookie or cracker or pretzel, it's not that hard to abstain. Once I have the first one, fuggeddaboutit.

So I'm being pre-emptive by filling myself up on really healthy, low calorie, nutrient dense food.

Once I drop the last ten pounds, I'll go back to eating more chicken and eggs, but for now the protein shakes are doing the trick.
