I need to get the courage to do what those that have been successful here
have done and just 'jump off' and 'eat'.
I'm not sure anyone *really* does that. All of us have our food cultures and food quirks. While I really do listen to my body as to what it wants at the moment, I also keep a journal of "what works", and I tend to just drop the foods that don't work. I.e. if they are not in the kitchen, they are not on the menu, ever.
Also I keep in mind that guys lose weight quite easily. Bodyfat just works different in men. When men get extra calories they tend to build muscle, not fat. And if you listen, the ones that say "they just eat anything" tend to be guys. Biology is misogynist, I think!
Keeping a food journal is very helpful. Some years ago, the goal I set for myself was: "Find a breakfast that will actually keep me satisfied until lunch". Why? Because I was SUCH a grouch before lunch. I could not go 2 hours without eating. So I started experimenting with foods that would keep me fed longer. I never did dream that just not eating breakfast would ever work.
But some meals on F5 work better than others too, and I tend to stick to the ones that do work. For me the ones that work are the ones high in polysaccharides and moderately high in protein. The ones that work for you ... you need to experiment.
