The last paragraph of the article about Fast5 in the newspaper caught my
attention. To address the 'eat anything' problem, one can look at the work
done by the Calorie Restriction Society.
There has been a lot of research for several years on calorie restriction.
It extends the life of animals. The Calorie Restriction Society is
collaborating with scientists at Washington University to learn more about
CR effects in humans.
Paul McGlothin & Mereith Averill have written a book titled The CR Way,
published 2008. These two people eat their calories earlier in the day and
then stop eating in the early afternoon... so they are actually using a
form of Fast5. The subtitle of their book says "using the secrets of
calorie restriction for a longer, healthier life."
I keep their book handy and refer to it now and then. They list specific
foods to eat. The whole idea of calorie restriction for improving your
health is to have optimum nutrition. We do not want to just eat anything.
