Over the years I've learned the principles in Nourishing Traditions, and done well with them. Eventually this led me to low carb and very few grains. Still, although I felt okay, my weight kept creeping up, especially during the past year. Obesity and diabetes are rampant in my family, and I've always vowed not to 'go there'. So fighting prediabetes, thyroid problems, etc., have been SO discouraging to me.
Fast5 seemed my last hope since I've truly eliminated white flour, sugar and other damaging dietary agents in my life. I've been doing Fast5 now for six weeks and lost 7 1/2 pounds. At 4 lbs I noticed the outward curving of my abdominal fat was decreasing instead of increasing! :) It no longer looks as if I have a basketball inserted just below my breasts--my clothing actually falls down rather than out! (Anyway that's probably TMI; but I'm just so GLAD about this.)
About the same time I began Fast5 I quit taking my small dose of compounded thyroid to save money. Twice before I had done this, and felt absolutely awful in a relatively short time. I don't advocate this for everyone, of course, but I have had absolutely no fall-out from stopping the meds. I feel great and am happy with my weight loss.
Sometimes I have two tbsps of coconut oil in my morning coffee, but this hasn't seemed to affect anything. I am so happy, after all the wonderful, helpful groups I've joined, that I FINALLY found something that works, and makes sense, for me w/o counting carbs or calories! (BTW, I am 5'2" and 141 lbs; and 60 y.o.)
P.S. I have to go to the library now to get online so if you comment to me, please understand it may be two weeks before I'm back here. Mostly I just wanted to say it works; and thank you all for your helpful input. ~ Jonell
