[fast5] Re: Easy and hard days

Here's my experience: I find that it's best to break my fast (at 4 pm) with an apple. Modern research seems to confirm that apples do help to keep the doctor away, and eating one after 19 hours of fasting provides you with easily digestible, healthy fruit sugars.

Then I usually wait half an hour to an hour, because my somatic hunger is relieved, and then I'll eat some wholemeal bread with cheese or ham, and maybe, if I feel like it, some sweets (chocolate, cookies, whatever is available). All in moderation.

At 6:30 pm, I'll have dinner with wife and kid, and my dinner portion is much smaller than it was before starting Fast-5.

All in all, I estimate that my daily calorie intake has gone down 30 percent. I lost 5 kilograms (of a total 105) in just a few weeks.

The first week was quite difficult, but now, I simply don't care for food anymore. Around 3 pm I will start to develop an appetite, but before that, I can look at people eating (they are everywhere) and not feel the slightest jealousy. I can have lunch with others, and just drink black tea, while they enjoy their sandwiches, and I won't have any inclination to break my fast.

I keep losing weight and I feel better physically, overall. And mentally, or even spiritually, if that word has any meaning to you, having nothing to do with food for the better part of the day proves to be a major advantage, too. So thank you, Mr. Herring! I truly appreciate your efforts.
