Re: [fast5] Re: Long timers?

I have to say this isn't my experience, though there are no doubt individual differences in constitution that could effect one's response to any foodstuff.  But also, as I've commented before, I think it also depends how much, and what sort of, exercise you regularly do.  I usually work out fairly soon after rising, and the kind of training I favour typically involves at least some anaerobic (i.e. hard!) activity like sprints that rely on muscle glycogen - of which there is a strictly limited store - not fat.  Consequently I've found that a reasonably regular portion of carbs - pasta, potatoes, rice, bread, fruit etc - is helpful in replenishing my muscle stores, and most days I burn off a fair proportion of what I sucked up the day before.  I feel absolutely fine and dandy on this regime.

As I've said, I'm certain that one rule doesn't fit all, but I'm equally sure that the way the body uses any foodstuff - short of genuine intolerance or allergy - responds to the demands one makes over time.  In addition, it seems to me that our attitude counts for a lot here too.  As you say, one "reads that carbs can make you feel lousy" and already that plate of pasta doesn't seem so attractive.  But a quick Google is enough to show that every foodstuff, and indeed every WOE, under the sun is poison to one school of thought and the staff of life to another.  They can't all be right.  "Horses for courses" is a good old maxim, and as I say, carbs is a pretty good horse for robust activity, though no doubt not the only nag in the race.  I would suggest "suck it and see", but perhaps this is one maxim too many!

One other thing...

I've read before that eating too many carbs (like eating spaghetti) during your eating period can make you feel lousy... would you guys agree with that?

I'm trying to avoid carbs as much as I can this time... is that sound advice?
