Congratulations on your commitment to losing weight and welcome to the FF community! It's important though to realise that the long-term goal is control of body FAT, not simply weight, which includes muscle and bone that you certainly don't want to lose - perhaps even increase. The fact is that it's simply not possible to lose 7 pounds of FAT in 6 days, even if you ate nothing whatsoever and exercised for several hours. It takes more than 24,000 calories to lose - or gain - 7 lbs of fat (imagine: 24 meals each of 1000 calories!) - all research and practical experience confirm this. It's very common however to see drops of several pounds in the first few days of any diet - especially if you're starting from a highish weight - mainly due to changes in how much water your body contains.
So it's important not to set yourself up for any disillusion when this rate slackens off, or even seems to go into reverse for a few days. Trust me, it's perfectly achievable to see steady weight loss of 4-8 lbs a month over extended periods - provided you eat 500-750 calories less overall than you would have done previously, and add a bit more exercise (helps with the muscle and bone too). Fast 5, when all is said and done, is basically a superior method for controlling our regular intake of calories - both temporarily for weight loss, and permanently for maintenance - as painlessly as possible. That's the "magic" ingredient.
Wishing you all the best in your progress towards your goals!
David
