For me what helped was going on a "low iron" diet. I.e., no
iron-fortified foods, and eating more fish rather than beef. And no
molasses. I am not sure exactly why this helps, but people with higher
ferritin levels seem to not process glucose as well as those with
lower ferritin levels, so that might be a clue. Or it may be that
eating fish helps. If you look at obesity by country, the countries
that eat the most beef/pork/mutton are the fattest, and the
fish-eaters are the skinniest. Dr. Eades mentions the iron issue in
"Protein Power", and also recommends donating blood.
