Re: [fast5] Hello

I use some of the principles from the Warrior Diet. The diets are
basically the same, but Ori has some ideas about what foods to eat and
exercises to do, and if one likes to think of oneself as "tough", it's
got some decent psychology to it. Esp. he attacks the idea of "you
have to be sure to eat before exercising".

Also he isn't into building muscle mass for the sake of building
muscle mass. I think "bulky muscles" are a mistake. The really strong
animals ... like monkeys say, swinging through trees, or antelope
leaping through the air ... are rather lean looking. The ones with BIG
muscles are meat chickens and Angus steer. Both of those have muscles
that are artificially inflated by genetics and special foods, and they
can get very muscled. But they are not strong, and sometimes they can
barely walk -- which means the meat is a lot more tender than that of
an antelope. Eating protein constantly throughout the day might
encourage big muscles, but not necessarily a strong physique.

I also like Ori's ideas about "food sequencing" ... eat your salad
first (esp. with vinegar dressing) and or soup, then protein, then
vegies, and eat starches and dessert LAST. Bert talks about this some
in his book too: eating healthy stuff first works a lot better than
breaking your fast with a candy bar or starches.

However, the WD makes a point of eating ONLY at night, which turns out
not to work for my life. Eating late in the day interfered with my
sleep.

Also, the WD allows more foods during the day: basically anything raw.
This was my basic downfall to the diet: my salads got bigger and
bigger and pretty soon I was back to 3 meals a day. Slippery slope and
all that.

That said, the idea of a few raw carrot sticks or celery works well
for me when I have to take medications that don't work on an empty
stomach. Raw vegies don't really upset one's blood sugar much. For me
now this has morphed into taking konjac/psyllium/chia 3 times a day
(once with meals, once for each of the missing meals) -- which keeps
my stomach happy and helps prevent GERD, which is an issue for me --
and also helps pills set well. Psyllium basically doesn't digest at
all, and konjac doesn't digest for a good 12 hours or so.
