Yes, throw in a few 36 hour fasts every once in a while. It makes the typical Fast-5 19 hour fasts seem like "a piece of cake" after training yourself by doing some 36 hour fasts of Alternate Day Fasting. You'll end up easily getting more effective 23 hour fasts per day when on your normal "Fast-5" program days.
Brad Pilon's "Eat Stop Eat" documents the insulin-lowering benefits which start kicking in heavy at around the 18 hours of fasting level and keep rising up to beyond 36 hours of consecutive fasting. Metabolism lowering with 36 hour fasts is a Myth.
All who cry about the torture of waiting for their "eating window" need to not be afraid of the Fast. It's the consecutive Fasting Hours, which REALLY count.
I still think "Fast-5" is a catchy Slogan, but shouldn't be taken as the Bible of Fasting. I would call my own regime, "Fast-23" as I believe more strongly in counting the consecutive hours of FASTING per day, than emphasizing a cutesy-sounding 5-hour Eating Window into the name.
