I have been on Atkins a few times with success. First time I got under 160 lbs and called my insurance company. They sent a nurse over to take my blood and measurements in order to get me lower life insurance. The lady at the insurance company called me and said she hadn't seen such a high good cholesterol on anyone as mine was 99. She said it made up easily for my slightly high bad cholesterol. I told her I live off eggs, cheese, butter and steaks and she told me "Don't tell me that".
Second diet was almost like fast 5 in that I ate 'little' for breakfast and lunch and ate a regular dinner albeit less. That too worked and was modified atkins as I cut back on quantities and allowed more carbs so it would appear I was eating normal food, and my wife would freak out less.
Now I am doing Fast-5. Been on it for a week and it seems to be working. I ate twice in my 5 hour window a couple times but now am limiting it to a dinner and I don't seem to want to overeat my dinner. Later I may take some sugar free metamucil or popcorn that we cook at home but thats about it. I have potatoes and rice and pasta because my wife freaks out if I don't eat what she cooks... she gets offended. She is upset enough I am skipping breakfast and lunch... so I have a little potatoes or rice to keep her happy. I also think it might help digestion a little.
As far as green stuff, I chow down on whatever is green. (green beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts etc.).
I started fast-5 and it seems to be working. I think I lost about 3 lbs over the last week. I even went out for Indian Dinner on Sunday and had Pizza later in the day.. messing up my rules because it was my wifes birthday but it still worked.
I added Deadlifts, Squats, Chins and Dips in and they started working right away. two days ago, my watch was spinning on my wrist and I had to remove a link. My pants that I had from my last diet are fitting now.
I think this diet is easier than anything I have tried. I eat what my wife cooks (she makes dinner). If what she made is light on protein, I also have some cottage cheese.
I am 55, 5'7, 162 lbs and wear size 34 pants and want to wear size 32. My next goal is 160 lbs. Then I think 158 would be a goal, followed by 155 and 152. 152 might be good enough, I will see. I have tiny wrists and was 145 lbs out of bootcamp in the navy and was chubby then. 148 seems like my ultimate target but I will see. What I am reading now talks about waist hip ratio instead of BMI so will have to get a tape.
